The Saudi Arabian
Riyal is the official currency in Saudi Arabia.

5 halala = 20 qurush Notes are in denominations
of SR 1, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100 and 200. Coins
are in denominations of 5, 10, 25 and 50 and 100 halala. Also in

Currency can be exchanged at commercial banks and
money changers, which stay open longer. Credit
& debit cards
American Express, MasterCard, Diners Club and Visa are all widely
accepted.

of merchant acceptability and other services which may be available.
Travellers cheques
Travellers cheques are widely accepted although
they can be hard to change. To avoid additional exchange rate charges,
travellers are advised to take travellers cheques in Euros, Saudi
Riyal, US Dollars or Pounds Sterling and to also carry the purchase

Currency restrictions
There is free import and export of both local and foreign currency,
however import of Israeli currency is prohibited. Banking
hours Banks are open from Saturday
to Wednesday 8.30 am to 12.00 pm, and 5.00 pm to 7.00 pm, Thursdays
8.30 am to 12.00 am. Money changers have
longer opening hours. |
